These symptoms also mimic those of Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS).

IBS is a chronic disorder that affects the large intestine causing diarrhea, constipation, and abdominal pain. Its symptoms can also be felt in the pelvic area. Unlike most cases of endometriosis, this condition does not generally coincide with your period.

The overlapping symptoms of endometriosis and IBS can create potential diagnostic difficulties.
